Grace Rose lived from 1887 to 1981. She was born in Michigan and lived there most of her life. This is a transcription of her diary written in 1908, the year she turned 21. She lived in Corunna, Michigan at the time. In just a few years, she would be married to Earl Derham. Read on for the adventures of a single girl in the early 20th century!

Got up at 3 o'clock and Ray drove us to Durand where we went to Detroit. Met Rose at the station and we went to League ballgame between St. Louis and Detroit a.m. 4 to 3 in our favor. Got our dinners downtown and went right back to the game in p.m. 9 to 3 in our favor. After the game we went up to aunts. Earl stayed all night with Ed Archibald and I stayed with Rose.
