Grace Rose lived from 1887 to 1981. She was born in Michigan and lived there most of her life. This is a transcription of her diary written in 1908, the year she turned 21. She lived in Corunna, Michigan at the time. In just a few years, she would be married to Earl Derham. Read on for the adventures of a single girl in the early 20th century!

My folks came home. M. and I went to meet Mama in evening and saw Walt. Nearly had a collision with a telephone pole when we met the street car. Walt, M., and I went over to Owosso to the carnival and it was fine. "Drunken man." "Pass the beer." Ha! Ha! Pie! Pie! Earl and Walt brought us girls home and took the horse back with them.
